MyDish serve up a tasty investment opportunity for Deborah

Added: 12th August 2009

Carol Savage and MyDish.co.uk, the social networking site for people who love food and drink, secure Deborah's backing in episode 4 of the latest series of Dragons' Den.

MyDish logoMyDish.co.uk is a social networking site which allows people to:
- SHARE their recipes with family and friends
- FIND great tried and tested homemade recipes
- ORGANISE their recipes into one place
- CREATE their own family cookbook – like i-tunes for recipe books!

MyDish launched at the beginning of 2008 and currently has 100,000 visitors per month growing at a rate of 25% month on month, with thousands of recipes. They have successfully secured partnerships with SAGA and with a number of charities who want to create recipe books to raise funds  – including Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Deborah offered £100,000 for a 15% share of the business. Theo Paphitis made the same offer but Carol opted to go with Deborah in the end and says,  "I chose Deborah for her marketing expertise as I felt she would be able to help us drive MyDish forward and build a strong brand" .

Deborah said about the investment, "this was an interesting one for me, bearing in mind I haven't cooked a meal in 25 years! Whilst this might not be home ground for me, Carol clearly explained the opportunity and I got the sense that she was a real achiever, someone I could work with to maximise the opportunity."
