Misfuelling Prevention Device
Stops you putting petrol in a diesel car
Business description
Every year, more than 150,000 motorists pump unleaded petrol into their diesel cars – a figure that increases annually. The fuelling of a diesel vehicle with petrol can have a number of serious repercussions including loss of time and costly repair bills. With the Misfuelling Prevention Device the accidental filling of a diesel vehicle with petrol is a thing of the past.
The
Misfuelling Prevention Device simply replaces the filler cap with a specially
shaped plastic filter that won’t allow a standard unleaded fuel nozzle to enter
the filler neck.
The device is easily fitted in less than a minute, without the need for special tools or modification to the
vehicle and remains in place for the life of
the vehicle.

Deborah’s reasons for investing
Mike gave one of the best pitches I've ever seen in the Den. He was very clear, not just in describing the device but also in terms of the size and nature of the market and the reasons why people would buy it. I understood that it was not the only retro-fit product on the market designed to prevent misfuelling but it certainly appeared to be the simplest and most elegant solution available. I was also impressed by the progress that had already been made in terms of establishing routes to market and selling the product. Finally, I have a contact in the fleet insurance market who I felt would be able to assist us in getting this product into widespread use.
Latest update from Michael
We’ve spent the last two years developing, patenting and trialling the Misfuelling Prevention Device. Interest in the device has been overwhelming and the product is already being used by the UK emergency services, local authorities and a number of fleet operators. Following our appearance on Dragon’s Den we expect to be inundated with even more orders!
