Deborah's cakes win business award

In the 12 months since Deborah came on board Proper Maid have made significant strides to deliver the key goals of achieving national distribution for their products, breaking into the export market, and maintaining their impressive rate of growth and brand profile.

In March they scooped the "Most Improved Business Performance" award at the first annual UK Trade and Investment Yorkshire "Passport to Export" awards. They have also been shortlisted for two more prestigious awards: The Baking Industry Awards 2013 (for Product Innovation) to be held 11 September at the Park Lane Hilton in London; and the White Rose Awards 2013 (Taste of Yorkshire Category) to be held 11 November at New Dock Hall, Leeds.

The business has also secured a prestigious contract to supply Pret a Manger with very positive initial feedback; and its "Christmas Dinner Cake", as featured on Dragons Den, will be distributed nationally from October to customers online following a deal with OCADO. The business has also secured a contract to supply its serving soldiers through the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) bases, in a deal that will cover service personnel as far away as the Falkland Islands and Afghanistan.

The team are currently working on a recipe for a "Sunday Dinner Cake"! which will be available all year round and will be launched to coincide with "Sunday Dinner Week" at the end of September. New creative concepts are also in the pipeline in preparation for the Tour de France "Grande Departe" which comes to Yorkshire next year.
